Frequently Asked Questions
How do I qualify for the State Championship?
For Oahu surfers, you will need to surf at least 5 events, have a 2022-2023 season membership, and be within the top 6 of your division.
For Kauai, Maui, and Big Island surfers; please check with your island director because each island has their own set qualifications to be eligible to surf at the state championship.
When is the State Championship?
April 26-30, 2023.
Will there be live scoring?
Yes! For all 17 and Under shortboard divisions, you will have live scoring at the State Championship this year via Live Heats!
Why should I aim to be 1st in my division at the end of the season?
For all 17 and Under shortboard divisions on all islands, if you are in 1st place in ratings at the end of the season, you will automatically be slotted in the 2nd round.
2nd-6th places will have to compete in the 1st round which also includes eliminations.
Where will the State Championship be held?
Ala Moana Bowls on Oahu, Hawaii.
How much do I pay?
17 & Under Shortboard Divisions: | $200 |
All Other Divisions: | $175 |
*For each additional division: | $100 |
*If you are surfing more than one division, you will either pay $200 or $175 PLUS $100 for each additional division you want to surf and qualify for.
For example, if you are eligible to surf Open S.B. Men, Open L.B. Men, and Senior L.B. Men; then this is the breakdown:

*Any check that is returned will have a $20 service charge. No exceptions!
Can I have a refund if I can't make it?
There will be no refunds if you don't show up and there will be no exceptions.
